1. Mrs. Beattie chaired the first council meeting of the year. Everyone was welcomed and invited to introduce themselves to those in attendance.

2. The minutes of the last meeting which took place on May 31st were reviewed.

3. New Council members were selected. They were Kathy Evans, John Kyle, Beth Hall, Donna Hare, Lynn Anne McEwen, Candace Hyatt, Lisa Buesnal, Jacki Blunn, Bill Vermeersch, Doug Marlatt, Pam Robinson, Rosemary Clarke, Dianne Thompson, Isabella Beattie.

4. Executive members were selected: Beth Hall as Chair, Lynn Anne McEwen as Vice-Chair, Candace Hyatt as Secretary

5. Mrs. Beattie reviewed Policy, Regulations and Administration Procedures governing School Councils.

6. Principal’s Report:

a) New playground equipment in junior area passed inspection and is being well used by our junior students
b) Baird has two new staff members; Ms. Kathryn Steel, Librarian and Ms.Suzie McKnight, Child and Youth Worker
c) School organization was distributed; total of 261 students; concern re large grade 1 class was discussed and input from several council members was received; no monies for extra staff is available; discussed the possibility of splitting classes; many were not in favour of this solution
d) Breakfast program is up and running from Monday until Friday; doors open at 8:15
e) The school website is being revamped and will be up and running by mid October

7. The Home and School made a report.
