1. The minutes of the last meeting were reviewedand passed.

2. Principal’s Report:

a) Students in grades 3 and 6 have completed EQAO testing; it was a tiring week for staff and students; special thanks to Candace Hyatt and Dianne Thompson for coordinating treats for the students
b) Mr Epsie is retiring at the end of June; we thank him for his hard work and dedication and wish him well
c) We have not heard re our recent submission to the Dr. Rees Foundation
d) School Council is required to submit an Annual Report to the LKDSB; this will be distributed to parents as well; Home and School will submit a financial report to parents to be attached with this report
e) The Best Start Program will be located at Harwich-Raleigh Public School; services will be provided for children ages 0 to 6 to ensure the best possible start in life; daycare will be provided as well

f) Council reviewed the contents of the student planner for next year ( Dress Code, Student Code of Behaviour, etc); Council will submit a section on the role of School Council and Home and School will submit as well; planners will be provided to students in grades 2 to 8 for September of 2005; after some discussion, the school will continue to cover the cost of the planners with students paying for a replacement if necessary; teachers will reinforce the proper use of planners

3. Other Business:

a) Lynn-Anne and Lisa reported on the School Council Chairs’ meeting

b) Lisa shared information acquired from her attendance at the Best Start Focus Group meeting in Ridgetown

c) Special thanks to Mr. Vermeersch for his efforts in coordinating Track and Field this year

d) Discussion re Fun Night for School Council members

e) Beth thanked everyone for their involvement in School Council this year and wished everyone an enjoyable summer
