The Parent Council reviewed and/or made recommendations to both the school administration and the board for the school year 2004/ 2005 in regards to:

  • Class sizes

  • School organization for the current year and  the next year

  • The need for additional resources in the current grade 1 class

  • Team Read and additional teaching resources

  • School safety

  • Bussing issues

  • Volunteers and police checks

  • Board and school policies and regulations review

  • Breakfast program

  • W.J. Baird School website

  • Teacher replacements and staff planning

  • Play ground equipment and future equipment needs

  • Class Field trips and extra circular activities

  • Fundraising - both school fundraisers and Home and School fundraising

  • Food days - hotdogs, pizza, subs, milk, vending, healthy choices

  • Early Release days

  • EQAO testing

  • School capital needs requests

  • Special presentation and assembles for students

  • Dress code and school conduct

  • School Safety

  • Summer literacy camp

  • People for Education initiatives

  • Education Week

  • Grade 8 "Tech Tracks" program with Blenheim District High School

  • Teacher contract negotiations and status

  • Dr. Rees Foundation - submission of proposals for our students

  • Swimming and Skating Schedules

  • School Board and Parent Council education sessions

  • School calendar
